Into the Drift

Into the Drift is a fantasy RPG and base-building game under active development. World and regional maps are procedurally generated, with handcrafted stories, lore and locations. Development is still at an early stage and there is room for goals and features to change as work progresses, but these are the main features.

Real-time combat

Single-player combat ranging from small skirmishes to large battles.

Procedural world & regional maps

Every world is generated fresh, from continents down to isometric 2.5D regional maps.

In-depth world and lore

Drawing on Old English, Celtic and Norse language and myth, Sanderson’s Cosmere, Jujutsu Kaisen, Lord of the Rings, Chrono Trigger, Darklands, Final Fantasy VI, Vampire Survivors, ToME, Caves of Qud, Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress.

Dynamic weather and time

A full day and night cycle with god-ray lighting, plus dynamic rain and storms on regional maps.

Threadweaving magic

Learn to weave threads of power into spells from seven schools of magic.

Settlement building & management

Raise a settlement from a camp into a working town with multi-level 2.5D construction.

Parties and large-scale battles

Recruit companions, assemble large parties and take part in big battles.

Handcrafted locations

Towns, cities, random overworld locations, unique story locations and dungeons placed into the generated wilderness.

A note on expectations Some of these features are implemented while others are not. For details, see the Dev-Map. Into the Drift is a personal project undertaken at my own pace, so there is no guarantee that every feature listed here or on the Dev-Map will make it in, or that the game will ultimately be released. I only intend to release it once I feel it’s complete enough to be a playable product, and I have no intention of rushing that.

Into the Drift is developed in the Godot game engine.
